On Monday, August 29, the London streets were crowded with people wearing bright clothes, and music could be heard from everywhere – the British capital celebrated the annual Notting Hill Carnival. This holiday falls on the last Sunday and Monday of every August. Besides, the Summer Bank Holiday, a long weekend marking the summer end, is also celebrated on these days.

Additionally, Sunday is considered a child's day, and the Monday holiday is for adults.

The London carnival is a smaller copy of the Rio carnival. Professional dancers take part in this event, and ordinary people can walk with them in a colorful procession. Additionally, all the guests of the carnival can taste the Caribbean cuisine.

Reportedly, nearly half a million of people take part in the celebration. That's why this carnival is considered to be the biggest street festival in Europe.

Participating in the carnival, the Brits show reverence for immigrants who came from South America, as they brought this dance festival to gloomy and rainy London in the 20th century.

Despite the fact that the carnival is a quite popular event, most citizens of London prefer to live the bustling city before the bank holiday. However, tourist flow increases during these days; thousands of tourists come to London to join the colorful celebration.
